5 Trusted NonProfits That Aid in Hurricane Relief

 We compiled a list of 5 trusted nonprofits that you can keep on your radar for the next time there's a threatening hurricane or natural disaster making moves. 

1. Direct Relief

A great organization that has been deemed 100% efficient by Forbes is Direct Relief.

They will donate directly to the affected areas, and work quickly. They pride themselves in being one of the first responders in many natural disasters, and they have proven themselves to be a great organization many times.

2. Heart to Heart International

Scoring a 96.46 on Charity Navigator, Heart to Heart International deems worthy of charitable donations. Shortly after Hurricane Patricia was upgraded from a tropical storm to a Category 5 hurricane, they had a campaign in motion and were getting prepared for what could have been a devastating event for Mexico 

Heart to Heart prides themselves on being ready for natural disasters such as Hurricane Patricia and Katrina. Staff and volunteers work at their Operations Hub to prepare supplies like their Ready Relief Boxes and Heart to Heart Care Kits.

3. Convoy of Hope 

From Springfield, MO., Convoy of Hope is ready to respond with water, food and shelter with their experienced Disaster Response team. They scored a 95.72 on Charity Navigator, and they are usually among the first to respond to disasters throughout the world.

Convoy of Hope partners with local churches, businesses, government agencies, other nonprofits, donors and volunteers to make their work possible.

4. Tourism Cares 

If you’re a travel industry advocate then this Nonprofit is perfect for you. Tourism cares is a popular Non-Profit due to its sustainable efforts. It doesn’t focus as much on immediate relief as it does rehabilitation of affected areas. It’s goal is to re-establish tourism in the affected areas by creating jobs and stimulating economic growth.

They aren’t currently accepting donations for Patricia. However, they were quick to respond to Hurricane Katrina as well as the earthquakes that devastated Nepal. You can count on them organizing something soon.

5. American Red Cross  

Probably the oldest and most famous disaster relief fund in the United States, the American Red Cross aids victims with neutral humanitarian care and is known to be one of the first responders in any crisis.

Be sure you are choosing an organization with a good reputation and solid track record. Scammers thrive after natural disasters, and you do not want your efforts going into undeserving hands.
