Position Statement Regarding Recent Terrorist Attacks and Travel Insurance

On Thursday November 12th & Friday, November 13th, 2015, multiple terrorist attacks occurred in Paris, France; Baghdad, Afghanistan; and Beirut, Lebanon, claiming the lives of many.

The U.S. Department of State identified these as terrorist attacks, and as such, these tragic events meet the guidelines and requirements for coverage under certain TravelSafe travel protection plans.


At least 187 are left dead and over 300 injured. The most shocking and deadly attacks began in Paris close to the Stade de France just after 9:20pm local time.

Conditions have been unstable in different areas of the Middle-East for what seems like forever, but travel warnings have been recently issued for both Lebanon and Afghanistan

How is my travel insurance policy affected? 

Plans purchased on or before November 12th, 2015, may have coverage for these attacks.

Any travelers currently in France, Afghanistan or Lebanon and in need of assistance should please contact their plan’s 24 hour emergency assistance hotline.  Representatives are available at all times to assist arranging emergency medical transportation and treatment.  Clients’ safety and well-being is our priority.

TravelSafe understands other travel plans may be impacted by these events.  Travelers currently on their trip may incur unexpected costs from delays or missed flights.  Many plans offer trip delay coverage after a 6 hour delay and missed connection coverage after a 3 hour delay.  Trip interruption coverage may also apply if portions of the trip cannot be completed because of the attacks, or if it is necessary to return home early.  Please contact TravelSafe with questions, and please always review the plan documents for details.
